STEVIE BEGINS AIRBORNE TRAINING!

Stevie Austin has just acquired her own Parachute Rig in
preparation for her upcoming real Parachute Training
Missions. Her fully-functional parachute system includes
an authentic Paratrooper Harness/Pack and a round 22 foot
tri-color Parachute Canopy!

Stevie has also acquired her own authentic
sage-green Air Force Flight Suit!

Wasting no time, Stevie immediately suited up and began
training with her new parachute rig.

In the photos below, Stevie practices hanging from her
harness and manipulating her parachute canopy while
grounded. The training went very well, and Stevie is now
fully prepared for her real parachute jumps!

The training parachute seen below has since been replaced
by a real
Air Force C-9 tri-color parachute as used in many
military ejection seat systems!

We are currently seeking willing and able skydivers who
can take Stevie up for her parachute jump. She would
ideally like to leap from an altitude of about 1,000 feet
and perform a modified "static line" exit from the plane.

If you, or anyone you know, may be able to assist Stevie with
"exiting the aircraft" while on your way up for a skydive,
please EMAIL US and we'll make it happen anywhere
in the USA! Stevie travels at her own expense and her
jump/s will be filmed as "Episode Six" of her ongoing
Online Movie Series.

**Special Thanks To Texas-based Master Rigger/Skydiver
John Stanford (and his fellow "Ace Technical Advisor", Sara)
for their excellent assistance with providing Stevie's Parachute
Canopy, as well as outstanding Technical Advice on proper packing!

** Special Thanks To California-based "Darcy, Peggy & Company" for
providing Stevie's Parachute Harness and Air Force Flight Suit!

STEVIE SENDS HER THANKS AND APPRECIATION!

Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control,
STC has been forced to cancel the Rubicon II Rocket Launch
Mission for the foreseeable future. Therefore, STC has kindly
returned Stevie to her "home" here at Rubicon ICU in
Pasadena, CA so she may pursue other avenues into space.

After such an exciting and productive visit at STC HQ in
Forks, Washington, (the Rubicon II Rocket was almost
completely built!) Stevie and everyone at STC was sad
to see the Rubicon Mission cancelled.

However, Stevie enjoyed her days with STC a great deal.
She wishes them the best in their future endeavors! Eric & Phil
will always be close to her heart as her "First Flight Guys!"

2005: THE FUTURE
(HAVE GUTS! WILL TRAVEL!)

At this point, Stevie is now seeking a new ride into space!
She will make herself available to any other space companies
who may require her services as Test Pilot/Astronaut/Payload.

Please email us right away if you or anyone you know
can offer Stevie a legitimate ride on a functional space
vehicle (for low altitude testing or actual high altitude launches!)
High-Risk Experimental Vehicles are fine with her! She's
"been there and done that" (crashed hard!) and lived to tell.

Stevie has the drive, talent, experience and guts to
do the job - now she JUST NEEDS A RIDE!

ANYBODY GOING TO SPACE THIS YEAR?
Or testing any new air/space vehicles?
Let's hear from you!

AT STC HQ IN WASHINGTON STATE, STEVIE AND
THE ENTIRE STC TEAM ARE WORKING VERY HARD
BUILDING THE RUBICON II ROCKET IN PREPARATION
FOR THE UPCOMING LAUNCH IN OCTOBER 2004!

Stevie & STC Co-Founder Eric Meier often work together on Stevie's
Rubicon II Rocket Space Capsule.

Stevie inspects the Space Capsule hatch and assists Eric with hose assembly.

With wrench in hand, Stevie helps adjust the Rubicon II engines. Stevie is a
hands-on Astronaut who is fully capable of talking shop with Rubicon II
Technicians about any aspect of the rocket construction.

Stevie can often be found running diagnostics on the STC computers.

As tough as she is, even Stevie requires some breaks during her long days of
hard work in the STC Rocket Shop. Here she takes a quick restroom break then
finds some open floor and puts her feet up for a quick nap between work sessions.

True Hands-On Rocketeers, Eric Meier & Phil Storm and the rest of the STC Team
work hard building the Rubicon II Rocket under the watchful eye of Albert Einstein!
(Albert would have loved to see the solid commitment to science and the love of space
that these guys bring to their work every single day!) Stevie's Space Capsule is almost
ready to go!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stevie, Phil, Eric, Martin and Greg (the core STC Team members)
flew from their Washington HQ to Pasadena, CA to meet with
Dr. James and take a tour of the Rubicon ICU/R Facility.

Stevie was glad to finally introduce the STC Team to Dr. James and
the rest of the ICU/R staff who helped save her life. Though they had
spoken by phone many times during Stevie's recovery, this was the first
time the STC Team was able to meet the ICU/R Staff in person.

The tour included a look at the ICU, where Stevie endured her Coma;
the OR where Stevie's Body Transplant Surgery was done, and the
Physical Therapy Unit where Stevie worked very hard to get back to
full Mission Ready Status.

Stevie Austin - Back On Her Feet & Ready For Rubicon II!

Everyone enjoyed the meeting and ICU/R tour, and after a good lunch,
the STC Team was back on their chopper to return to STC HQ. They all
have plenty of work to do to prepare for the next Rubicon Rocket Launch.
Rubicon II, with Stevie in the Space Capsule, is currently scheduled for launch
on the weekend of October 9&10, 2004.

"We Can Rebuild Her..."

(Click On Stevie's Photo Above or Below To View Episode One)
(Warning: Contains Crash Footage That May Be Too Graphic For Some Viewers)

Astronaut "Stevie Austin", the brave Test Pilot for Space Transport Corporation
(STC), lies severely injured after washing up on the beach minutes after her
experimental Suborbital Tourism Vehicle, called RUBICON 1, exploded and
disintegrated while hundreds of feet in the air over the Pacific Ocean.

The brutal explosion happened so fast, Stevie's Space Capsule Parachute System
failed to deploy, causing her doomed Capsule to plummet toward the sea
while spinning wildly out of control.

After a horrifying plunge from high altitude, Stevie's Space Capsule crashed
into shallow water and impacted the ocean floor at very high speed, not far
from shore.
The crash impact was so violent that the entire Capsule was
instantly torn apart...leaving poor Stevie Austin in critical condition
"...a woman barely alive."

According to Mission Specialist Martin Dillon, the first Rescue Personnel on
the scene were unsure exactly where the Rubicon Capsule had crashed into the
water until they came upon the gruesome sight of Stevie's tattered flight suit, and
bits of her remains, floating in about 10 feet of water, directly above the sunken
Capsule wreckage.

Stevie's head, and more bits of her remains, later washed ashore where she bravely
clung to life until recovered.

Update 9-2-04

Stevie arrived at the Top Secret "Rubicon ICU/Rehab Facility"
on August 30, 2004. Rubicon ICU/R is located in Pasadena,
California, a city with a long history in Space Pioneering through
facilities like the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the California
Institute of Technology.

The elite STC Trauma Chopper Unit handled Stevie's
complex medical transport from STC Headquarters
in Washington State, to Rubicon ICU/R in California.

Upon arrival at Rubicon ICU/R, Stevie was immediately
given an extremely comprehensive medical evaluation to
determine the true extent of her injuries.

The bodily damage Stevie sustained in the Rubicon crash is
massive, and her head trauma is serious, however, her vital
brain tissue was minimally affected by her injuries.

Stevie is currently in a coma since the crash on August 8, 2004.
Her condition is considered "critical but stable." She'll
remain under 24 hour watch in Intensive Care as long
as it takes.

MOVIE: "INSIDE STEVIE'S COMA"
(Episode Two of the Ongoing Stevie Austin Project Movie Series)

Click on the image above to go "Inside Stevie's Coma."
It's a 5 1/2 minute visual/musical movie experience which
takes you inside Stevie's lonely and isolated interior world
while she floats in the nothingness of a comatose state.
The movie includes footage of Dr. James checking on Stevie
to give her some good news.

Stevie's X-ray and MRI results hang from every wall in the
Rubicon Radiology Room at ICU/R .
Having studied Stevie's
test results carefully,
Dr. James is very optimistic.

Despite Stevie's severe injuries, the Rubicon ICU/R staff
is confident that she has the strength to not only survive,
but to actually return to full health in due course.

Stevie will be in good hands at Rubicon ICU/R. Her recovery
will be handled by a caring and dedicated team of medical
professionals led by Dr. James and his loyal assistant, Reese.

After her extensive surgeries, therapy and rehabilitation have
been completed, Stevie Austin will, once again, be prepared to
volunteer for future missions with
Space Transport Corporation
- back on the cutting edge, pioneering the way for Space Tourism!

Stevie's entire journey to recovery will be documented on this
web site as it occurs. Please check back often for updates!

Send Stevie a get well email HERE!
She'd love to know you are rooting for her during recovery!
And she may even answer you when she is feeling well enough!

Rubicon Launch Commanders and STC Founders,
Eric Meier and Phillip Storm with Rubicon 1 at
the Museum of Flight, June, 2004.

Ace news photographer, Lonnie Archibald, captured these rare documentary
photos showing Stevie "in action" during pre-launch activities.

Stevie enters the Rubicon 1 Space Capsule with assistance
from Mission Specialist Martin Dillon. It was the brilliant
father/son team of Martin and fellow Mission Specialist
Noah, who engineered Stevie's Flight Suit.

A true hero of the day, Martin later rescued Stevie from
the beach where she washed ashore after the horrible crash.

Mission Commander Phil Storm wishes Stevie luck just
prior to launch. It would be the last time he saw her
in one piece.

A news crew from Fox Q13 films Stevie through the
porthole window in the Rubicon Capsule prior to launch.
Only a short time later, they filmed the crash disaster.

Inside the Rubicon Capsule, Stevie prepares for lift off
while Launch Crew Personnel do last minute checks....

Only seconds into launch, Stevie feels the tremendous jolt as engine #1
explodes into pieces beneath her Capsule...she knows instantly that
something is very wrong...

STEVIE'S SPACE CAPSULE WRECKAGE WAS SOLD ON EBAY!

When Stevie's destroyed Rubicon Space Capsule was recovered from the ocean,
STC put the wreckage up for auction on ebay in order to help raise funds for
their next launch. The buyer of that wrecked Space Capsule, an avid space
fan and meteorite collector, now has an interesting article about the
Rubicon Project posted here.
